In the ocean live many happy, cheerful fish. But there is one fish who doesn’t smile, doesn’t laugh, and just isn’t happy. All his friends try to cheer him up, but nothing they say can change his mind. He is a pout-pout fish, and he won’t ever be anything else. Every one is starting to give up. Maybe he is just a pout-pout fish. But one day, a silvery fish comes along. Instead of saying anything, she just gives him a big kiss. Then he realizes that he isn’t really a pout-pout fish: he’s a kiss-kiss fish!
What’s the message?
I think that the message of The Pout-Pout Fish is perspective can change everything. He thinks that because his lips are so pouty, he is destined to be glum. But after the shiny fish gives him a kiss, he realizes that his lips are actually kissy lips and that he doesn’t have to be pouty.
Where to get The Pout-Pout Fish
I found The Pout-Pout Fish at the library. But you can also find this book on Amazon.
Cal is my little brother. His opinion is:
“It’s a fun book. My favorite part is when he when he found out his face was a kissy face. Besides the pout-pout fish, I really like the octopus.”
My mom’s opinion on this book is:
“I think it’s a great book for kids because:
Rhyming helps kids learn more extensive vocabulary and latch onto the words.
The story teaches a principle of finding a positive way to use something that he had previously seen in a negative way, like pouty lips can be kissy lips.
And the illustrations are excellent. They show a lot of emotion and realistically depict sea life, so kids are able to learn about how a jellyfish looks, or how an octopus looks.”
I really like The Pout-Pout Fish. In the book there are a lot of cute little crabs, so my rating is
Five out of Five cute crabs
Excellent for little kids, and so funny that I was laughing along and my eight-year-old brother asked to read it. I think that it is great for boys and girls ages two to five. It’s an amazing book. If you have a little one, you need to get this book.
